Alykes is located on the north east coast of Zakynthos, in the coastal area known as Alykon Bay.
The name Alykes comes from its famous land mark the salt fields, which originally was the main source of income for the local villagers that worked there. Although no longer in production the salt fields remain and the literal translation into Greek is the word Alykes.
